“Back the hell up? This is my daughter and her apartment. I have more rights to be here than you do, and I certainly have the right to see if my daughter is okay. You’re standing here with a gun in your hand…”

Chandler looked around the apartment, trying to piece together what was going on. He wasn’t sure who the two new faces were, but he was well aware of who Lo was.

“…and what, muthafucker? You put your hands on her while she’s carrying my baby. That voids any respect you would have received by way of bloodline and puts you in the category of just another muthafucker on the streets. You want to know how they get treated?” Heavy’s eyes never left Chandler, but Chandler’s darted around the four bodies who were in the apartment with him.

“Your baby? Is that what this is about? You’re with him?” This time, Chandler looked right at his daughter. Lo chuckled, knowing that things were about to flip. He didn’t have a relationship with Shai’s parents. Truthfully, they didn’t like him, and the two or three times he had been around Shai’s parents, they let it be known that he wasn’t good enough for their daughter. Well, more so her father; her mother was cordial. Even if she wasn’t thrilled about their relationship, she wanted her daughter to be happy. In the beginning, Lo made Shai happy, so her mother stayed out of things concerning the two of them.

“What’s so funny?” Chandler’s heated stare moved to Lo. “You’re okay with my daughter carrying another man’s baby? That’s amusing to you? What is this, some type of open relationship? What kind of weird shit are you into, Shai? This is unacceptable. I told your mother that our family is better off like it is. There’s no way I can survive a run for mayor with you attached to whatever this is. I’m here to ask you to do what you do best—stay away. Don’t fuck this up for me.”

“Daddy! Why would you…”

“Don’t explain shit to him. You’re grown as fuck and don’t owe him a got damn thing.” Heavy returned his gun on safety and then positioned it on his body. “Let’s go.”

Shai looked around, but her eyes were back on Heavy in a matter of seconds when she heard his voice.

“I wish you muthafuckin would. I said , let’s go.”

Walking in on Shai, placing ownership on the nigga that was in her place fucking the next hoe when she had him standing in her corner, had Heavy heated. Shai had a lot of explaining to do to bring some clarity to the situation, or a lot of things were going to change. Heavy had already been through hell with Posh. He wasn’t about to open himself up to getting a double dose by adding Shai to the equation. She was either going to be clear about who and what she wanted, or he was going to be a single dad of two.

Shai was no fool.
